In a recent alarming incident, an Indigo flight was struck by lightning while navigating through rough weather at an altitude of approximately 17,000 feet. Fortunately, quick thinking and expertise on the part of the pilot ensured that a major disaster was averted and all passengers remained safe.

The Incident at 17,000 Feet

According to reports, Indigo flight 6E 925 took off from Patna Airport at 3:10 PM and was scheduled to reach Lucknow by 4:20 PM. However, amid heavy cloud cover and turbulent weather, a bolt of lightning directly struck the nose section of the aircraft. The impact caused visible damage to the front part of the plane.

Despite the tense atmosphere on board, the pilot maintained immense composure. Coordinating swiftly with Air Traffic Control, the pilot prioritized the safety of everyone on board and navigated the aircraft toward Lucknow Airport.

Emergency Landing at Lucknow Airport

Demonstrating exceptional flying skills, the pilot executed a safe emergency landing at Lucknow Airport around 4:05 PM, ahead of schedule. A total of 104 passengers were on board the flight, and all of them were safely disembarked. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported among the passengers or crew.

Alternative Arrangements for Passengers

Following the lightning strike, the affected aircraft was grounded at Lucknow Airport for technical inspection. The same aircraft was originally slated to operate as flight 6E 6968 from Lucknow to Ahmedabad. Due to the damage, the airline arranged an alternative aircraft for the passengers, who safely departed for Ahmedabad later that evening.
