The Indian stock market is gearing up for a historic milestone as Reliance Industries prepares to launch the much-anticipated initial public offering (IPO) of its digital subsidiary, Jio Platforms Limited. Marking the first public issue by a Reliance Group company in nearly two decades, this massive offering has captured the attention of investors worldwide. According to recent market reports and banking sources, the public issue is slated to open for subscription on October 21.
Touted as potentially the largest public offering in Indian corporate history, the Jio IPO is expected to raise approximately Rs 37,000 crore. Notably, the issue will be entirely comprised of fresh equity shares, meaning the entire proceeds will flow directly into the company to fuel its aggressive expansion, technological advancements, and debt-reduction strategies. Market analysts believe this mega listing will comfortably surpass previous record-breaking issues.
Global Roadshows Led by Akash and Isha Ambani
Ahead of the official launch, the company successfully concluded an extensive series of international roadshows across major financial hubs, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Dubai, Singapore, and Hong Kong. These high-profile investor meetings were spearheaded by Jio Platforms Managing Director and Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani, alongside Reliance Retail Ventures Executive Director Isha Ambani.
According to banking sources, international institutional investors and sovereign wealth funds showed immense enthusiasm for Jio's robust business model, artificial intelligence capabilities, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise networking services. Backed by this overwhelmingly positive global response, financial experts estimate that the initial enterprise valuation of Jio Platforms could range between $143 billion and $146 billion, translating to over Rs 12 lakh crore.
Strong Grey Market Premium and Investor Enthusiasm
Even before hitting the primary market, the unofficial grey market has been buzzing with strong activity surrounding Jio's shares. Market trackers report that the Grey Market Premium (GMP) for the Jio IPO has surged to the Rs 151–153 range, signaling massive listing gains for prospective investors. Market discussions suggest a tentative price band between Rs 1350 and Rs 1450 per share, which would position the post-listing valuation between Rs 12.40 lakh crore and Rs 13.40 lakh crore.
