Mahindra & Mahindra has expanded its iconic SUV lineup by introducing a fresh and youthful iteration of its popular off-roader, officially christened as the 'Thar OG'. Tailored specifically to resonate with the modern Gen Z demographic, this facelift infuses a contemporary urban appeal into the rugged, classic charm that the SUV is widely celebrated for.
Priced attractively with an introductory tag starting at Rs 10.32 lakh (ex-showroom), the vehicle is structured across three primary trim levels: AXT, LXT, and ZXT. Deliveries are slated to commence from October 11, 2026, with the introductory pricing applicable to units delivered on or before November 30, 2026.
Engine Options and Drivetrain Configurations
Under the hood, the Thar OG offers a versatile mix of powertrains, including petrol and diesel mills coupled with either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD) systems. Buyers can choose from a 1.5-litre D117 diesel engine, a punchy 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit, and a responsive 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor, depending on the chosen variant.
Variant-Wise Features and Breakdown
The entry-level AXT variant starts with the 1.5-litre diesel engine and features essential utilities like electric power steering, push-button start, dual airbags, and 18-inch steel wheels. Stepping up to the LXT variant brings advanced off-road hardware such as electronic locking differentials, terrain modes, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and alloy wheels. The top-tier ZXT variant elevates luxury and safety with 19-inch alloys, LED lighting with cornering functions, a wireless charger, and a robust 6-airbag safety setup including front and rear disc brakes.
