Video: Mega Demolition Drive Targets Illegal Encroachments, Reclaims Land Worth ₹80 Crore

In a massive operation, authorities in Morbi, Gujarat, today launched a mega demolition drive along Panchasar Road, aiming to clear 187 illegal structures and reclaim government land valued at crores of rupees. The joint team of Morbi Municipal Corporation and the district administration is conducting this extensive action near Savar Pal. According to officials, the campaign is expected to free approximately 25,000 square meters of land, whose market value is estimated to be around 80 crore rupees. This decisive action underscores the administration's commitment to curbing illegal encroachments that have long plagued public spaces.

From early morning, a large number of administrative personnel, police forces, and heavy machinery were deployed at the site. Extensive preparations were made to ensure the demolition drive was conducted peacefully and effectively. The administration had previously issued notices to all 187 illegal structures, urging their removal. However, as the constructions were not dismantled within the stipulated time frame, this stringent step was initiated. This drive also signals a firm stance by the government against illegal constructions, particularly those on public lands.

Bulldozers Raze Illegal Structures, Reclaiming Land Worth ₹80 Crore

The ongoing mega demolition drive on Morbi's Panchasar Road marks a significant step towards urban development and ensuring an encroachment-free environment in the city. District administration officials stated that numerous constructions around the local pond in this area were carried out illegally, leading to the misuse of public utility land. Removing these illegal encroachments will not only free up government land but also send a strong message to deter similar activities in the future. The 25,000 square meters of land, valued at an estimated 80 crore rupees, will now be available for public projects or other governmental uses.

The demolition team comprises 140 employees from the Morbi Municipal Corporation, 40 employees from PGVCL (Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited), and over 200 police personnel. The presence of PGVCL staff is crucial to ensure that electricity connections are safely disconnected, preventing any accidents. Officials emphasize that this action is not targeting any specific individual but rather aims to uphold the rule of law and protect public assets.

Robust Security and Heavy Machinery Deployed for Mega Operation

To prevent any untoward incidents during the operation, stringent security arrangements were put in place. Morbi's Deputy SP J.M. Aal informed the media that approximately 250 police personnel, including 4 Deputy SPs, 7 Police Inspectors, and 17 Police Sub-Inspectors, were deployed at the site. Such a significant deployment of police force was intended to ensure that the demolition drive proceeded entirely peacefully, and any potential protests or obstructions could be effectively managed.

State-of-the-art heavy machinery is being utilized for the swift removal of illegal structures. Morbi Municipal Corporation's Deputy Commissioner Brijesh Kalariya told the media that the operation involves multiple vehicles, including 4 Hitachi machines, 10 JCBs, and 12 tractors. These machines are capable of efficiently demolishing both large and small structures, allowing for the maximum area to be cleared in less time. This joint action is a testament to the administration's efficiency and coordination in successfully executing such a large-scale and complex operation. The demolition process may continue in the coming days until all identified illegal constructions are completely removed.

This campaign serves as a stern warning to those who contemplate illegally occupying public or government land. The administration has made it clear that all such constructions will face the full force of the law and will be strictly removed, regardless of their age.
