Massive Police Recruitment Drive Underway in Madhya Pradesh
In a major development for job seekers aspiring to join law enforcement, the Madhya Pradesh Police department has accelerated its massive recruitment drive aiming to fill 18,834 vacant positions across various cadres. From constables to sub-inspectors and subedars, the state police headquarters has chalked out a comprehensive timeline to complete the entire selection process by April or May.
This massive employment opportunity combines recruitment slots from two consecutive years—8,500 posts initiated under the 2024-25 framework and 10,334 posts introduced in the subsequent 2026 notifications. With thousands of aspirants awaiting their results, this drive is expected to significantly boost the operational strength of police forces across the state.
Why the Recruitment is Split into Two Phases
A common question among applicants is why such a large batch of vacancies is being processed in phases. According to high-ranking officials at the police headquarters, the primary bottleneck is the physical infrastructure and intake capacity of state police academies. Institutions located in Bhopal, Sagar, Umariya, and Rewa can collectively train a maximum of 8,000 to 10,000 recruits at any given time.
To ensure quality foundational training without overcrowding academies, the administration strategically phased out the batches. Once the first batch completes its rigorous training module and gets deployed in the field, the second batch will seamlessly take over the academy quarters.
Physical Efficiency Tests Scheduled for February
The physical recruitment wing is currently awaiting the written examination results compiled by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (ESB). According to ADG Recruitment Shahid Absar, the physical efficiency tests (PET) will kick off immediately once the scorecard data is officially transferred to the police department.
