In a chilling incident that highlights the dangers of taking the law into one's own hands, a 32-year-old professor was abducted and beaten to death in Maharashtra. The brutal murder stemmed from suspicion of a romantic involvement between the victim and the sister of two of the main accused.
The Brutal Abduction and Assault
The victim, Professor Nitin Dhanji Sangme, was targeted in broad daylight. According to local law enforcement authorities, the accused brothers—Prithviraj Deshmukh and Dhaval Deshmukh—along with their associates Prathamesh Reddy and Aditya Bhalke, intercepted Nitin near a busy square and forcefully dragged him into an SUV.
They drove him to a secluded stone crusher plant in the area, where they subjected him to a horrific assault. Armed with wooden sticks, leather belts, and iron rods, the four men rained blows on the professor until he succumbed to his severe internal injuries.
Swift Police Action and Arrests
Police launched an immediate investigation after discovering the crime early the next morning. An FIR was promptly registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the local police station.
All four suspects were successfully apprehended and presented before a local court, which remanded them to four days of police custody. Investigators are currently probing deeper into the conspiracy to determine if any other individuals aided the perpetrators.
