A harrowing incident involving a mother attempting to drown her own child has sparked intense discussions online, while simultaneously highlighting extraordinary acts of bravery. Three local citizens who stepped in to save a six-year-old girl from drowning in a prominent lake have been hailed as heroes after a dramatic video of the incident gained traction online.
The Dramatic Rescue Operation
According to reports, the mother, allegedly burdened by mounting medical debts for her ailing daughter, brought her children to the waterfront, got rid of the elder daughter on the pretext of buying ice cream, and pushed the six-year-old into the deep waters.
As the child struggled for her life, she managed to grab a floating bamboo stick and cried for help, telling onlookers that her mother had pushed her. Passersby K. Balakrishna heard her cries and alerted the crowd. Without wasting a moment, auto-rickshaw driver Fakhruddin jumped into the water, joined by businessman Mohammed Afsar. Together, they pulled the shivering child to safety before authorities rushed her to a hospital. Police subsequently registered an attempted murder case against the mother.
Police Commendation for the Heroes
Recognizing their remarkable courage, the local Police Commissioner officially honored the three men at the headquarters, presenting them with shawls and cash rewards. Praising their swift action, the top cop noted that while many bystanders prefer recording videos on their smartphones during emergencies, these three individuals demonstrated true civic sense and humanity by risking their lives to save a child.
