Elderly Man's Body Kept At Home For 3 Days Due To Property Dispute In Telangana

On a fateful Monday night, 80-year-old Konkati Chandraiah passed away due to age-related ailments in Konaypally village of Telangana's Rajanna Sircilla district. Normally, such tragic moments bring families together to mourn and perform final rituals. However, inside Chandraiah's home, a very different and disturbing drama was unfolding.

Immediately after his demise, a bitter feud erupted among family members over property division. The argument escalated to such an extent that his funeral could not take place. From Monday night until Wednesday night, Chandraiah's body remained inside the house while villagers and local elders tried in vain to mediate. Ultimately, police intervention became necessary to resolve the deadlock and facilitate the cremation on Wednesday night.

Land and House Spark Family Feud

Chandraiah owned about 1.5 acres of agricultural land and a house. He had three daughters, while his son Nagaraju had passed away nearly a decade ago. Nagaraju is survived by his second wife and two daughters.

According to police, Chandraiah had transferred his house to his daughters' names about three years ago. Following his death, Nagaraju's second wife and daughters demanded a share in the remaining properties, triggering a clash with other family members. The dispute intensified so drastically that the funeral was put on hold indefinitely.

Villagers Fail, Police Step In

Neighbours and village elders made repeated attempts to convince the grieving yet warring family members to set aside their property disputes temporarily and perform the last rites with dignity. Unfortunately, all appeals fell on deaf ears as neither faction was willing to compromise.

With local mediation completely failing, authorities were alerted, and police arrived to take charge of the situation, ensuring that the last rites were finally carried out on Wednesday night.
