Continuous torrential downpours over the past couple of days have severely disrupted normal life across numerous districts in Uttar Pradesh. The relentless rains have forced local administrations to order the closure of schools and colleges in several worst-hit areas. As the sky remains heavily overcast with dense rain-bearing clouds, citizens are facing immense difficulties due to widespread waterlogging and traffic paralysis.
The state machinery has shifted into high gear, with disaster management teams closely monitoring rising water levels and vulnerable points. Meteorological experts attribute this intense spell of bad weather to a powerful low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal. This atmospheric disturbance is expected to remain active for the next twelve hours before gradually weakening. The cyclonic circulation has significantly amplified weather activities across Uttar Pradesh and neighboring regions, with western districts bracing for exceptionally heavy spells.
Scientists monitoring the weather patterns explain that the system's influence will persist, bringing continuous spells of heavy rainfall. The ongoing cyclonic activity draws immense moisture and thermal energy from warm sea surfaces, propelling vigorous rain-bearing clouds deep into the mainland.
Red Alert in 52 Districts and Flood Warnings
Out of the 75 districts in the state, the meteorological department has placed a staggering 52 districts under a strict red alert, indicating the possibility of extremely heavy downpours. Sudden flash floods pose a major threat in several low-lying river basins and rural tracts, prompting swift administrative responses.
Districts under close watch include Azamgarh, Ballia, Ghazipur, Mau, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Deoria, Gorakhpur, and the state capital Lucknow, among several others. Emergency response teams have been pre-positioned to tackle any crisis arising from swollen rivers and overflowing drains.
