Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on opposition parties during a press conference in Lucknow, accusing them of double standards regarding constitutional bodies and the electoral process. He stated that political parties readily take credit for their triumphs when they win elections, but quickly blame electronic voting machines and independent regulators when voters reject them.
The Chief Minister emphasized that undermining credible institutions like the Election Commission is a dangerous precedent that weakens the roots of Indian democracy. He pointed out that baseless allegations regarding the SIR process are being manufactured solely to mislead citizens, despite election authorities having transparently clarified all procedural details and provisions like Form 6.
Recalling historical events, Yogi Adityanath highlighted the dark phase of the 1975 Emergency imposed by the Congress party and accused them of historically dismantling democratically elected state governments. He also condemned opposition leaders for raising doubts over the bravery of the armed forces during surgical strikes and air operations, terming such behavior detrimental to national interest.
Reiterating India's robust democratic framework, the Chief Minister urged political outfits to introspect rather than casting aspersions on the judiciary, CAG, and electoral machinery whenever electoral outcomes do not favor them.
