A special on-the-ground report by The Freelance from various corners of India on the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Our investigative team explored the deep-rooted relevance of Bapu's principles in modern times—from historical landmarks in Ghaziabad to public opinions in Sirohi, and digital trends to children's education.
The Historic Chowki in Ghaziabad: 91 Years of Legacy
Our investigation began in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where history is still preserved. Exactly 91 years ago, Mahatma Gandhi visited this place, and the wooden chowki (stool) he sat on is still safely preserved by locals. This artifact serves as a living document of that era's struggle and simplicity.
Public Opinion from Sirohi: Connecting with Bapu
In Sirohi, Rajasthan, our team gauged public sentiment. A local youth remarked, 'Though I never saw Gandhi ji, I make sure to follow his path in one way or the other.' This reflects how deeply ingrained Bapu's ideological influence remains in the Indian subconscious.
Teaching Bapu's Principles to the Next Generation
Experts and educational reports emphasize that teaching children Gandhi's four core principles—truth, non-violence, simplicity, and self-reliance—remains crucial for their moral development in today's competitive world.
Conclusion
Mahatma Gandhi is not just a chapter in history, but a living philosophy. The Freelance ground report proves that while Gandhi is physically gone, his ideals continue to guide the human conscience.
