According to police reports, the harrowing incident took place at JB Complex in Sector-4 E of Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai. The accused, Manish Gop, worked as a delivery boy. He lived with his wife, Pinky Manish Gop alias Sonia Mohammad Abu Khatoon, who was reportedly a Bangladeshi national. Over the past few weeks, tensions had been brewing between the couple due to growing mistrust.
Investigators revealed that Manish suspected his wife of having illicit relationships with multiple individuals. This suspicion was heavily fueled by the fact that money was frequently credited to her bank account through online channels from various unknown sources. This financial anomaly became the bone of contention and poisoned their domestic life completely.
A Vicious Late-Night Assault
The situation escalated dangerously on the intervening night of October 15 at around 2 AM. Blinded by rage, Manish launched a brutal physical assault on his wife. He punched her repeatedly on the face, neck, and chest, and violently thrashed her stomach and limbs. The severe internal injuries inflicted during the assault proved fatal for Pinky.
Hospital Drama and Police Arrest
In an attempt to cover up his crime, the accused took his critically injured wife to a hospital the next morning. However, the attending doctors examined her and declared her brought dead. Noticing suspicious injury marks on the body, the hospital authorities immediately alerted the local police station.
