Pratyusha Banerjee Suicide Case: Bombay High Court Clears Ex-Boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh After 10 Years

Bombay High Court Delivers Verdict in Pratyusha Banerjee Case

In a major legal development regarding the high-profile suicide case of television actress Pratyusha Banerjee, the Bombay High Court has discharged her former boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh, from all charges. The ruling brings an end to nearly a decade of legal battles and uncertainty surrounding the tragic incident that shook the entertainment industry.

Pratyusha Banerjee, widely recognized and loved for her portrayal of 'Anandi' in the hit daily soap 'Balika Vadhu', was found dead inside her rented apartment in Goregaon, Mumbai, on April 1, 2016. The sudden demise of the young star sparked immense grief and triggered a complex police investigation involving her relationship status and personal life.

Rahul Raj Singh Reacts After Being Discharged

Following the court's decision, Rahul Raj Singh spoke to the media, expressing a mix of shock and relief after enduring a decade-long ordeal. He shared that hearing the verdict in the courtroom left him completely numb, as he had lived under the shadow of the ongoing legal trial for years.

Reflecting on the turbulent journey, Rahul stated, "I was present in the court when the decision was pronounced. To be honest, as soon as I heard that I have been discharged, I went completely numb. These past ten years have taken a massive mental toll on me. Today, I finally feel a sense of inner peace and believe that truth has prevailed."

Crucial Phone Call Transcripts Dictate Court Ruling

During the hearings, a significant point of consideration for the bench led by Justice Shivkumar Dige was the telephonic conversation that took place between Pratyusha and Rahul just moments before her tragic death on April 1, 2016. Upon reviewing the transcripts, the court noted that Rahul was actively attempting to dissuade her from taking any drastic step.

The transcripts indicated that Rahul had informed the actress that he had turned his car around and was heading over to meet her. Taking this crucial evidence into account, the court concluded that the elements required to establish abetment to suicide were lacking, ultimately leading to his discharge from the case.
