Rajasthan Local Body Elections: BJP Reviews Results and Plans Strategy
Following the conclusion of the urban local body elections in Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a high-level review meeting at its state headquarters in Jaipur on Sunday. Division-in-charges and members of the election steering committee participated in the meeting to analyze the outcome of the polls and assess the grassroots political situation. Party leaders stated that a detailed report prepared during the meeting will be sent to the party high command in Delhi to plan future political strategies.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Rajasthan BJP President Madan Rathore said that the party evaluated the political scenario through an internal consultative process. He emphasized that reviewing election outcomes is a standard democratic practice for any political organization. Rathore also highlighted that BJP candidates have been elected unopposed as chairpersons in several civic bodies, reflecting the party's strong organizational footprint across the state.
Focus on Jodhpur Municipal Corporation and Mayoral Race
Political attention has largely concentrated on the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation results. Responding to claims made by the Congress regarding alleged cross-voting by BJP councilors, Rathore strongly rejected the accusations. He asserted with full confidence that despite any opposition maneuvering, the BJP will secure a majority in the Jodhpur civic body and elect its own mayor.
Explaining the arithmetic in Jodhpur, Rathore noted that the BJP won 45 seats compared to the Congress's 44, while 10 seats went to independents and one to the RLP. With the support of independent councilors and local alignments, the BJP remains confident of comfortably establishing its municipal board.
Countering Congress Claims on Horse-Trading
Refuting the opposition's allegations of horse-trading and administrative pressure, the state BJP chief maintained that the party is merely managing its own internal family affairs and councilors. He clarified that the BJP is not interfering in any rival territory and that police actions regarding complaints filed by councilors' families are being handled strictly as per the law.

Historic Implementation of 'One State, One Election'
Senior BJP leader and former minister Rajendra Rathore pointed out that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan successfully conducted simultaneous elections for 309 urban local bodies for the first time under the 'One State, One Election' framework. He stated that the party went to the public with a concrete manifesto focused on urban development, and urban voters—who now comprise nearly 37 percent of the state's population—have given a historic mandate to the ruling administration.
Rathore criticized the Congress leadership for remaining entirely absent from the campaign trail, noting that prominent leaders like former Chief Minister Ashok Gehot, Sachin Pilot, and state unit chief Govind Singh Dotasra failed to make any visible impact during the elections. Internal factionalism ultimately crippled the opposition's electoral prospects.
