Joint Operation by Delhi and Gujarat Police
In a major crackdown on organized crime, the Delhi Police Special Cell, in a joint operation with the Vadodara City crime branch, has arrested a 31-year-old key member of the Rohit Godara-Mahender Delana gang. Police recovered two kilograms of Pakistani-origin heroin concealed in a specially fabricated secret cavity of a car.
The contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs 12 crore in the international market. Officials stated that the operation has successfully exposed a massive narco-extortion syndicate operated by fugitive gangsters based abroad.
The Arrest and Recovery in Delhi
The operation was launched following a tip-off from the Vadodara crime branch regarding a Rs 10-crore extortion threat. Acting on intelligence, the police team intercepted Kuldeep Swami in north Delhi’s Chandni Chowk area on September 12.
During interrogation, Swami revealed that the narcotics consignment was hidden in his vehicle parked at Jai Vihar in Najafgarh. Police raided the location and recovered four packets of heroin hidden near the spare-tyre area.
Modus Operandi and Financial Troubles
Police revealed that Swami ran an agricultural business that suffered massive losses in 2022. To clear his debts of over Rs 50 lakh, he contacted gangster Mahender Delana via Instagram and was subsequently lured into the criminal network.

Further investigation is underway to trace hawala channels and nab other associates operating under Rohit Godara and Mahender Delana.
