A Major Milestone in India's Defence Self-Reliance
Asserting that India is rapidly moving towards self-reliance through indigenous defence manufacturing, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday that the country is witnessing a major milestone in its aerospace capabilities and technological self-confidence. Singh was addressing a ceremony marking the handover of indigenously manufactured aircraft and helicopters by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Pawan Hans Limited (PHL).
Highlighting the core vision of the government, the Defence Minister noted that past reliance on foreign nations has drastically reduced. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the country has embraced the core mantra of self-reliance, transforming from an import-dependent nation into a growing defence manufacturing hub.
Three Major Achievements Handed Over to Armed Forces
Detailing the event, Singh highlighted three key milestones achieved simultaneously. The indigenously designed Dhruv-Next Generation Civil helicopter was handed over after receiving DGCA certification. Furthermore, the final batch of LCA FOC Trainer aircraft was delivered to the IAF, alongside the first series production unit of the HTT-40 Basic Trainer aircraft.

Building a Unified Aerospace Ecosystem
Emphasising the need for a unified approach, Singh stated that public and private sectors must act as complementary forces rather than competitors. He concluded that modern warfare requires advanced, technology-driven tools, and indigenous production of assets like the HTT-40 will not only secure India's skies but also open doors for international exports.
