Promoting Grassroot Talent in Jharkhand
The two-day district-level 'Khel Jharkhand' sports competition held at the Sidhu Kanhu Stadium in Sahibganj reached its successful conclusion recently. Organized under the directives of the Jharkhand Education Project Council, the event served as a platform for identifying emerging sports talent from across the district. The competition featured various sports including athletics, kabaddi, and kho-kho, witnessing intense participation from students representing various blocks.
Dominance in Traditional and Field Sports
The competition saw a remarkable performance from students, particularly from the Kasturba Gandhi Residential Schools. The girls' Kho-Kho team from Kasturba Borio emerged victorious, showing great tactical skills and physical agility. Similarly, in Kabaddi, the Kasturba Rajmahal team claimed the top spot. The boys' category also saw tough competition, with the team from Kodarjanna High School winning the Kho-Kho title and the team from DCSMOE, Taljhari, excelling in Kabaddi.
Athletics and Future Prospects
The track events highlighted the speed and stamina of local athletes. The boys' 4x100 meter relay team from Sahibganj block displayed excellent coordination, setting a benchmark for others. The officials present, including District Education Superintendent Urmila Hansda, distributed medals and trophies, encouraging the young participants to maintain their dedication. The event served as a selection process where the best-performing athletes were chosen to represent Sahibganj at the state-level Khel Jharkhand tournament.
