Political Storm Over Jayaprakash Narayan Memorial: Akhilesh Yadav and UP Government Clash

A massive political controversy has erupted in Uttar Pradesh over the Jayaprakash Narayan International Center (JPNIC) on the birth anniversary of the socialist icon. Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav visited the JPNIC site to pay tribute, triggering a fierce war of words between the ruling government and the opposition.

Akhilesh Yadav Alleges Monument Being Sold for Profit

Speaking to the media after his visit, Akhilesh Yadav criticized the current administration, stating that Jayaprakash Narayan had given the call for 'Total Revolution' and fought against the British alongside national leaders. He alleged, 'Today's government does not respect any freedom fighter and only wants to make a profit out of everything. We built this grand memorial in memory of JP, but the government is selling it off.'

Akhilesh further claimed that the government's actions have only increased public anguish, which will ultimately strengthen the PDA alliance and lead to a political change soon.

Brajesh Pathak Fires Back Over Project Costs

Reacting strongly to the opposition's protests, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak labeled Akhilesh Yadav's visit a political drama. He accused the Samajwadi Party of invoking socialist icons merely to cover up their own misdeeds.

Pathak questioned how a project initially budgeted at Rs 17 crore during the SP regime ballooned to Rs 850 crore, demanding answers regarding the expenditure of public money on luxury amenities. He clarified that allegations of selling JPNIC are entirely false and that it has been leased out for better management.
