New Delhi, Sept 17: Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth on Thursday urged Indian Coast Guard (ICG) commanders to stay synchronized with rapid technological advancements and remain fully prepared to tackle emerging maritime security challenges.
Adapting to Rapidly Changing Security Dynamics
Speaking at the inauguration of the 43rd edition of the ICG Commanders' Conference in New Delhi, the MoS emphasized that the nature of warfare and security challenges is evolving at an unprecedented pace. He highlighted the growing significance of networks, sensors, software, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, cyber capabilities, and space-based technologies in modern security frameworks.
Transitioning from Consumers to Co-Creators
Stressing the need to leverage new technologies to enhance operational capabilities, Seth urged the ICG not to remain mere users of technology, but to act as co-creators by collaborating closely with start-ups, industry leaders, DRDO, and premier research institutions.

Appreciation for Humanitarian and Disaster Relief Operations
The minister commended the ICG for ensuring coastal security, acting as the primary first responder during maritime emergencies, and saving precious lives regardless of nationality. He also underscored the critical role played by the Coast Guard in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, search and rescue missions, and marine pollution control.
