Taking a significant step toward promoting sports and empowering athletes, the Uttar Pradesh government has officially handed over appointment letters to 470 sportspersons under the skilled sports quota in the police department. This initiative aims to provide secure careers and recognition to individuals who have excelled in various sports arenas.
Breakdown of Appointments in the Police Force
The 470 appointments include various prestigious positions within the law enforcement framework. Out of these, 295 athletes have been inducted as constables in civil police, while 132 will serve as constables in the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). Furthermore, 43 exceptional players have been directly appointed to the rank of Sub-Inspector (SI), recognizing their extraordinary sporting achievements.
Fostering a New Sports Culture: CM Yogi
Extending his wishes through social media, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that a vibrant new sports culture is steadily developing across Uttar Pradesh. The primary objective of this cultural shift is to honor field-level talent, boost the confidence of youth, and provide them with meaningful opportunities to serve the nation.
The Chief Minister highlighted that since 2017, the state government has proactively opened doors for sports talents in government services. Under the double-engine government, more than 534 athletes have already secured direct appointments across various departments.
More Recruitment Drives on the Horizon
The recruitment drive for sports talents continues to expand. The administration confirmed that an additional process to recruit 866 more sportspersons in the UP Police is currently underway, promising a brighter and more secure future for the athletic community of the state.
