On the fifth day of Navratri, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath worshipped Goddess Skandmata and took a sharp jibe at the opposition over women's empowerment. He stated that a nation's future can only be bright when its women are healthy, educated, and self-reliant.
Targeting previous administrations, Yogi alleged that instead of securing the future of daughters, past governments were busy nurturing their own political families. He noted that poor healthcare infrastructure previously led to alarming maternal and infant mortality rates, a situation that the double-engine government has actively transformed over the past few years.
Reforms in Education and Healthcare Sectors
The Chief Minister highlighted that welfare schemes have been expanded from a daughter's birth to her education and safe motherhood. Through initiatives like 'Operation Kayakalp', basic facilities in primary schools have significantly improved. Furthermore, upgraded facilities in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and free coaching via the Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana are empowering young women across the state.
Surge in Women Police Personnel
Discussing safety, Yogi revealed that the number of women police personnel in Uttar Pradesh has jumped from 10,000 in early 2016 to over 44,000 today. This increase has greatly strengthened law enforcement and women's safety, allowing daughters of the state to break barriers and achieve remarkable success.
