Nissan Motor India Records Exceptional Growth in September 2026
The Indian automotive landscape is witnessing a robust phase, and major car manufacturers are reaping the benefits of improving market sentiments ahead of the festive season. Nissan Motor India Private Limited has released its wholesale figures for September 2026, revealing an impressive performance across both domestic and international fronts. The company has maintained a consistent year-on-year upward trajectory over the past three months, signaling a strong revival in consumer interest.
According to the official data released by the company, total wholesale volume for September touched 10,025 units. This stellar performance underscores the growing global appeal of vehicles manufactured in India, alongside a rejuvenated domestic strategy aimed at capturing a larger market share.
Domestic Sales Double Up Powered by the New Nissan Tekton SUV
The most encouraging highlight for Nissan in the domestic market was the 100 percent year-on-year growth in sales. The company retailed 3,300 units in the domestic market during September 2026, compared to just 1,652 units sold in the corresponding month last year. This phenomenal doubling of domestic volume has placed the brand on a high-growth pedestal.
A major catalyst behind this domestic surge is the newly introduced Nissan Tekton SUV. Based on the Renault Duster platform, the Tekton comes with two robust engine options: a 1-liter turbo petrol and a 1.3-liter turbo petrol. Positioned competitively in the 5-seater SUV segment with prices ranging from 10.49 lakh to 18.59 lakh rupees ex-showroom, the vehicle has successfully captured the imagination of modern car buyers. Alongside models like the Magnite and Gravite, the Tekton is reshaping Nissan's fortunes in India.
Exports Drive Two-Thirds of Total Volumes
While the domestic market showed remarkable improvement, exports continued to form the lion's share of Nissan's overall sales volume. Out of the 10,025 total units sold in September, 6,725 units were exported to various international markets. This accounts for roughly two-thirds of the company's total production output during the month.
Nissan's 'One Car. One World.' philosophy ensures that vehicles produced at its Indian manufacturing facility adhere to stringent global quality standards. Company officials credited international dealers and distributors for sustaining the export momentum, ensuring that Indian-made Nissan vehicles maintain a strong global footprint.
Strategic Vision and Future Outlook
Saurabh Vats, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, emphasized that the stellar performance reflects the company's laser-sharp focus on product-centric strategies, robust dealer network capabilities, and the unwavering trust of Indian consumers.
"The doubling of our domestic volumes demonstrates the strong resonance of our product lineup with Indian buyers. We remain highly confident about future opportunities in the country and are committed to expanding our footprint further." — Saurabh Vats, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India
With the festive season spanning from Navratri to Diwali approaching its peak, auto industry experts remain optimistic. Enhanced consumer sentiment, supportive financing options, and fresh product launches are expected to keep the momentum going for passenger vehicle manufacturers across the board.
