Bengaluru: Political temperatures in Karnataka have soared as Chief Minister DK Shivakumar staged a sit-in dharna outside the Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO) office along with party MLAs. The protest is centered around alleged electoral fraud during the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) and Form-7 procedures.
The Form-7 and SIR Controversy
The controversy revolves around the manipulation of voter lists using Form-7 applications. The ruling party leadership alleges a systematic conspiracy to delete genuine voters' names from the electoral rolls, terming it a direct assault on democratic integrity.
Demand for FIR Against Election Officials
During the dharna, CM Shivakumar pressed for an immediate FIR against the Chief Electoral Officer and responsible officials, demanding a transparent criminal investigation into the alleged electoral irregularities.
Political Implications
With dozens of legislators joining the protest, the demonstration has turned into a major political showdown in the state. The Election Commission is currently reviewing the complaints, while investigative reporters continue to track developments on the ground.
