A tragic incident unfolded in Haryana's Faridabad district, where a toddler lost her life after falling into a deep, uncovered borewell that had reportedly been abandoned for a decade. The heartbreaking event has triggered massive public outrage against local municipal authorities for their criminal negligence.
According to reports, the two-and-a-half-year-old girl slipped into the deep shaft while playing near her home. The borewell, belonging to the municipal corporation, lacked a proper concrete lid after its original cover went missing weeks ago, leaving a fatal trap wide open in the neighborhood.
Upon receiving the distress call, an intensive rescue operation was immediately launched. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, fire services, and municipal corporation rushed to the site. Medical teams stationed an advanced life-support ambulance at the location, while continuous oxygen was pumped into the borewell to sustain the child.
After more than ten hours of strenuous digging and tactical operations, rescue workers managed to pull the child out of the shaft in the early hours. She was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where attending doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival. The incident has once again highlighted the blatant disregard for safety guidelines regarding abandoned borewells across the country.
