Tejashwi Yadav Returns to Patna After Delhi Court Hearing
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, has returned to Patna following his court appearance at Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi in connection with the IRCTC hotel tender scam case. Speaking to reporters at the Patna airport, the RJD leader launched a fresh and aggressive attack on the central government, stating that his party is facing politically motivated investigations by central agencies.
Tejashwi alleged that central probe agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and the Income Tax Department are being weaponized exclusively against opposition leaders to suppress dissent. He remarked sarcastically that if he or other members of his family were to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), all allegations against them would vanish instantly and they would be certified as paragons of virtue.
Blaming the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner
Shifting his focus to electoral authorities, Tejashwi strongly criticized Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the broader functioning of the Election Commission. He accused the poll panel of acting as an extension of the ruling party rather than operating as an independent constitutional entity. He termed the alleged administrative lapses not merely as mistakes, but as grave misdeeds that will not go unpunished.
The RJD leader warned that those currently occupying high constitutional offices and undermining democratic norms to please their political masters will eventually be held accountable by history and the public.
"The rules are entirely different for BJP leaders and the opposition. Had we switched sides, we would have been considered clean as Harishchandra. But we are not afraid, and the public is watching everything." — Tejashwi Yadav, RJD Leader
Clarifying Stance on Upcoming MLC Elections
Addressing questions regarding potential seat-sharing friction within the opposition Mahagathbandhan for the upcoming legislative council elections, Tejashwi clarified that political strategies often vary based on constituencies. Pointing to past local body polls where RJD contested independently and won five seats, he maintained that the party is well-prepared to contest and secure victories across different segments.
