INDIA Alliance Holds Crucial Strategy Meeting
The opposition INDIA bloc convened an important virtual meeting in Delhi to strategize on various national issues, focusing heavily on the transparency of election processes and strengthening opposition unity. Thackeray emphasized that to mount an effective challenge against the ruling dispensation, all alliance partners must come under one banner and hit the streets together rather than organizing isolated events. He also announced that his party would hold a massive protest against the Election Commission in Maharashtra.
Mallikarjun Kharge Demands CEC Resignation
During the same meeting, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge raised serious allegations against the Election Commission's working system and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Kharge cited internal dissent and objections raised by other election commissioners to question the integrity of the institution.
The opposition leaders also discussed reverting to ballot papers instead of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in future elections and stressed the importance of reviewing voter lists thoroughly before any major electoral exercise.
