UP Police Constable Recruitment Clarifies Ex-Servicemen Reservation Rules
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has issued a crucial clarification regarding the ongoing recruitment process for 32,679 constable posts. The board has firmly stated that the reservation benefit for ex-servicemen will exclusively be extended to those candidates who had already acquired the ex-serviceman status prior to the last date of submitting their application forms.
This clarification comes in the wake of numerous representations received by the board from various quarters demanding relaxations and inclusion under the ex-serviceman category. With the physical efficiency test scheduled to commence from October 1, the board deemed it necessary to clear all ambiguities to ensure a transparent and legally compliant selection process.
Mandatory Status Prior to Application Deadline
According to the updated guidelines issued by the recruitment board, possessing the ex-serviceman certificate or official status before the application deadline is a non-negotiable prerequisite. Candidates who attained this classification after the closing date of the application window will not be considered eligible for the reserved quota.
Legal provisions under the Uttar Pradesh Public Services Act clearly define an ex-serviceman, encompassing personnel from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force who have retired with a pension, or those discharged due to medical reasons beyond their control. The board is meticulously verifying all submitted documents against these established statutory definitions.
Physical Efficiency Test Begins October 1
With administrative preparations now in final stages, the physical efficiency test (PET) for qualified candidates is set to kick off on October 1. The board has instructed all regional exam centers to ensure foolproof arrangements, including biometric verification and continuous video recording, to maintain absolute fairness.
Candidates appearing for the upcoming tests have been strongly advised to keep their original identity proofs, category certificates, and all requisite documentation ready to avoid any last-minute hurdles at the examination venues.
