The Current Scenario of Bilateral Ties
Relations between India and China have been passing through a very sensitive phase over the past few years. Following the prolonged standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh, multiple rounds of diplomatic and military talks have taken place between the two nations.
Amidst this, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has once again made it clear that normal economic and diplomatic relations cannot be resumed unless complete peace and stability are established at the borders.
The Importance of Mutual Respect
New Delhi has always prioritized better ties with neighboring nations, but never at the cost of national sovereignty and security. The External Affairs Minister emphasized that honoring bilateral agreements is mandatory for both sides.
Efforts to unilaterally alter the status quo create friction in diplomatic engagements. India's clear message to Beijing is that mutual sensitivity and respect form the bedrock of sustainable bilateral relations.
