Antigua & Barbuda Falcons Lift Maiden CPL Title
The Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2026) concluded with an enthralling final match where the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons clinched their maiden championship title. In a dominant display, the Falcons defeated the Jamaica Kingsmen by 8 wickets in the summit clash.
Led brilliantly by veteran all-rounder Moeen Ali, the Falcons completed a remarkable campaign. Throughout the tournament, the team displayed immense resilience and teamwork, culminating in a historic victory that will be remembered by cricket fans in Antigua for years to come.
Maz Sadaqat’s Century Goes in Vain
Batting first, the Jamaica Kingsmen posted a competitive total of 170 runs on the board. The highlight of their innings was a magnificent, unbeaten century by young Pakistani batter Maz Sadaqat, who smashed 114 runs off just 58 balls.
Despite his heroic efforts, the rest of the Jamaica batting lineup failed miserably. Nine batsmen failed to reach double digits, with only Sam Ayub offering any notable support by scoring 29 runs. Sadaqat's phenomenal knock ultimately went in vain as the bowling attack failed to defend the total.
Dominant Run-Chase Led by Amir Jangoo
Chasing 170, the Falcons got off to a flying start as Rahkeem Cornwall hammered 20 runs in the very first over before getting dismissed. Amir Jangoo and Evin Lewis then anchored the innings with a crucial 64-run partnership.
Amir Jangoo remained unbeaten on 57, while Hasan Nawaz contributed a quickfire 47 to easily chase down the target. With this victory, the Falcons became the seventh different team to win the prestigious CPL trophy.
