Despite a complete prohibition on alcohol in Bihar, illegal liquor smuggling continues to pose a major challenge for law enforcement agencies. In a major crackdown just ahead of the festive season, police have seized a massive consignment of foreign liquor hidden inside a truck.
Late-Night Raid Based on Tip-Off
According to reports, acting on a tip-off during the intervening night of October 15 and 16, the police force in the Raghopur police station area intercepted a suspicious truck parked on the roadside. Under the supervision of senior local police officials, a special team conducted a thorough search of the vehicle, uncovering thousands of bottles of foreign liquor.
A total of 2,475.36 litres of foreign liquor was seized along with the transport truck. An FIR has been registered at the local police station, and investigations are currently underway to trace the culprits behind this massive smuggling network.
Tracing the Supply Chain Network
The recovery of such a huge quantity of alcohol in a dry state has raised serious questions about the loopholes in border security and policing. Investigators are now probing the origin of the consignment and its intended local recipients to dismantle the entire syndicate.
