A sensitive case involving marriage, divorce, and allegations of forced halala has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh. A woman has alleged that when she expressed her desire to remarry her former husband following a divorce, she was subjected to strict conditional demands of halala. The woman claimed that despite her refusal, she was beaten and forced into compliance. Acting swiftly on her complaint, the local police have arrested one accused, while search operations are underway for other named individuals.
Desire for Reunion and Halala Demands
According to the police complaint, the woman was married around three years ago, and her husband pronounced triple talaq roughly two years later. Wanting to rebuild her life and return to her former husband, she approached him, following which her ordeal reportedly began. She accused her mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and other relatives of constant abuse, harassment, and attempts to evict her from the house.
The victim stated that when she wanted to reunite with her ex-husband, she was told she had to undergo halala. Police interrogation of a detained suspect revealed that despite the woman's unwillingness, coercive measures were taken before her formal reunion could be orchestrated. The woman maintained that she vehemently opposed the practice, but her consent was completely ignored.
Physical Assault, Harassment Allegations, and Police Investigation
Beyond the halala allegations, the woman's complaint highlights severe physical and mental torture. She accused her in-laws of constant verbal abuse and intimidation. In a particularly alarming allegation, she claimed that there were attempts to administer medicines by force during her pregnancy, putting her health and well-being at grave risk.
Based on the formal complaint, law enforcement authorities registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation. Police successfully apprehended one of the prime suspects, identified as Shahnawaz, while efforts are on to track down the remaining accused persons. Further legal proceedings and verification of all statements are currently underway.
