New Delhi: When the air quality deteriorates in Delhi-NCR during the winter season, different phases of Graded Response Action Plan i.e. GRAP are implemented by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). Heavy challans are issued to drivers who break rules.

Key stages and vehicle restrictions of GRAP:

GRAP Stage 1 (AQI 201-300): Dust control at construction sites, use of anti-smog guns.

GRAP Stage 2 (AQI 301-400): Ban on diesel generator sets, increase in parking charges.

GRAP Stage 3 (AQI 401-450): Complete ban on BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel 4-wheeler cars in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida.

GRAP Stage 4 (AQI more than 450): Ban on entry of non-essential heavy commercial trucks into Delhi, work from home for 50% government employees.
