In a shocking instance of digital fraud, law enforcement agencies have busted a gang operating an illegal call center that sold fake herbal and Ayurvedic vitality medications online without any valid licenses. The police arrested the main accused, an 8th-pass dropout posing as a qualified physician, along with an accomplice, while a third associate managed to evade arrest.
The Instagram Trap: Glamour and Deception
Investigations revealed that the primary accused, Sameeruddin, operated an Instagram page named 'Herbal Hand Jadi-Buti'. Through carefully curated promotional videos and misleading advertisements, the gang lured vulnerable customers. Raw materials and empty capsules were procured from Saharanpur and Moradabad, which were then packed locally. Astonishingly, products costing a mere 200 rupees to assemble were sold to unsuspecting buyers for up to 2,000 rupees.
Pan-India Supply Chain and Crackdown
The illegal operation had been thriving for over a year, supplying fraudulent formulations not just locally but across distant states including Mumbai, Chennai, and Punjab. The operation unraveled when disgruntled customers reported severe adverse health effects after consuming the drugs. Acting on these tips, authorities raided the premises, seizing 1.99 lakh rupees in cash, 12 mobile phones, laptops, CPU units, monitors, and various incriminating documents.
Ongoing Manhunt and Next Steps
Police teams are currently conducting raids to apprehend the absconding suspect, Ilyas Khan. Authorities are analyzing seizure logs and registers to map out the entire nexus of this counterfeit network. Expert opinions from the Ayush department are also being sought to ensure stringent legal action against all perpetrators involved in endangering public health.
