The protest by the INDIA bloc in the national capital intensified on its third consecutive day, with opposition MPs staging demonstrations and heading towards Rajghat. Following a special lunch meeting hosted by Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge in Connaught Place, the leaders decided to march to Mahatma Gandhi's memorial to press their demands.
This follows a high-voltage drama from the previous day when leaders including Rahul Gandhi and प्रियंका Gandhi marched towards Jantar Mantar after a similar meeting, leading to their brief detention by Delhi Police. Despite facing FIRs and allegations of scuffles with security personnel, the opposition leaders have remained defiant, asserting that their agitation will continue unabated.
Opposition Firm on Demand for Resignation
Congress MP Pawan Khera reiterated that the opposition's agenda remains unchanged, emphasizing that the demand for Gyanesh Kumar's resignation is not merely an alliance demand, but a nationwide voice. He stated that the INDIA bloc will continue taking to the streets wherever they face resistance from authorities.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai also joined the leaders in Connaught Place, clarifying his absence from the previous day's events due to hospitalization and dismissing controversies raised over the attendance.
March to Rajghat
After concluding the lunch meeting, the opposition lawmakers proceeded towards Rajghat to pay tribute and reaffirm their resolve to fight for democratic principles. Security remains heightened across central Delhi as the political standoff continues to unfold.
