With the commencement of Shardiya Navratri, administrative preparations in the national capital have scaled up significantly. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has issued stringent directives to ensure cleanliness, public order, and respect for religious sentiments during the festive period. As part of these measures, meat shops operating in the vicinity of temples have been ordered to remain completely shut.
Strict Inspection Directives for Zonal Officials
Satya Sharma, Chairperson of the MCD Standing Committee, has issued specific directives to the MCD Commissioner. All zonal deputy commissioners have been instructed to personally inspect temples and Ramlila venues within their respective jurisdictions.
Officials have been strictly tasked with ensuring compliance regarding the closure of meat-selling establishments near places of worship, ensuring that the festive atmosphere remains peaceful and orderly.
Emphasis on Sanitation and Vector Control
Given the massive footfall of devotees at temples and Ramlila grounds during Navratri, waste management and sanitation are top priorities. Authorities have ordered the installation of adequate dustbins at event sites and regular garbage clearance.
Additionally, to prevent vector-borne diseases, anti-larval treatments and fogging are being rigorously carried out around religious and celebratory venues. Local officials have been directed to maintain round-the-clock surveillance to immediately address any civic grievances.
