Inspired by movie 'Drishyam', son brutally murders father over daily abuses and property dispute

In a chilling incident that shook Bihar's Samastipur district, local police have solved a high-profile murder mystery involving a son who allegedly killed his own father. On the morning of July 27, villagers in Darwa discovered the mutilated body of Raghuvir Sahni right on his doorstep. The brutal manner in which he was hacked to death with an axe left the entire community in shock.

The 'Drishyam' Inspired Conspiracy

For months, the case remained a blind mystery as there were no signs of forced entry, hinting at an insider's job. The breakthrough came when investigators tracked the activities of the victim's son, Shivshankar, who lived in Surat, Gujarat. Suspicion grew when it was discovered that Shivshankar did not even return home for his father's final rites.

Call Detail Records (CDRs) exposed that Shivshankar was physically present in Samastipur on the exact night of the murder, despite his phone being switched off for the most part. Upon being apprehended from Surat by the police, Shivshankar broke down and confessed. He revealed that he had watched the movie 'Drishyam' to master how to destroy evidence and mislead the police before executing the crime.

Abuse and Property Disputes Motivated the Crime

During interrogation, the accused revealed that his father frequently hurled abuses at him and his wife, creating a deeply toxic environment. Combined with ongoing disputes over land and property, the pent-up rage drove him to plan the murder.

He traveled meticulously from Surat to Patna, Vaishali, and finally reached Patori by train, walking the final kilometers to avoid detection. After executing the crime under the cover of night, he fled back to Gujarat. Police have successfully arrested the accused, and further investigation into the case is underway.
