Video: Female Constable in Viral Photo With Neha Bora Speaks Out, Asks 'Are We Not Women?'

A high-voltage protest in New Delhi recently brought student leader Neha Bora and a female police constable into the spotlight after a dramatic photo of their confrontation went viral across social media platforms. The image showed Neha Bora grabbing the uniform of a female officer while atop a barricade. Now, the policewoman featured in the viral photo has come forward to share her side of the story, detailing the ordeal faced by law enforcement officers on duty.

Accusations of Torn Uniform and Physical Assault

The constable in the viral picture has been identified as Neetu, posted at the Nangloi police station in outer Delhi, who was deployed for law and order duty during a protest in the New Delhi area. Recounting the incident, Neetu stated that when student leader Neha Bora climbed onto the barricades, she had to step up to pull her down and maintain order.

According to Neetu, during the ensuing scuffle, Neha Bora grabbed her collar and scratched her with her nails, tearing her uniform. Neetu sustained injuries to her hands and legs during the altercation, following which she was sent for a mandatory medical examination.

Facing Severe Online Abuse

Constable Neetu expressed deep anguish over the online backlash she has faced since the photo went viral. She revealed that she has been subjected to relentless trolling, abusive language, and derogatory comments on social media. Questioning the double standards, Neetu asked, 'If the women participating in the protests deserve empathy, are we female police personnel not women too? Why are our female officers being abused and physically assaulted while performing our duties?'

'We Are Just Doing Our Duty'

Neetu clarified that she holds no personal grudges against the protesters and respects their right to protest peacefully. However, she emphasized that police personnel are simply fulfilling their official duties and should be allowed to work without being physically attacked or unfairly vilified.
