In an era driven by social media, several videos surface daily that capture public attention and spark intense debates. A similar video has now gone viral on the internet, allegedly showing police personnel facing manhandling and assault during an ongoing protest, prompting widespread discussions about security on duty.
The viral footage features two police personnel, identified as Bhupendra and Devendra, surrounded by a crowd. Sharing their firsthand ordeal, the cops stated that while they were carrying out detention procedures, they were aggressively pulled from behind and deliberately knocked to the ground amidst the commotion.
Cops Recount the Attack: 'I Was Kicked From Behind'
Describing the sequence of events, one of the police personnel explained that his body-worn camera fell to the ground when he was pushed down. He said, 'It took me barely a second to pick it up. As soon as I stood up and checked my camera, someone kicked me from behind. When I turned around and made eye contact with that person, he immediately fled.' The cops alleged that some individuals in the crowd shielded the attacker.
The personnel stated that they were forming a human chain to guide demonstrators toward buses when they were targeted. Caps were knocked off and thrown away, raising significant concerns regarding the safety and security of law enforcement officers handling large demonstrations.
Political Context Behind the Demonstrations
This incident unfolded against the backdrop of massive protests organized by the INDIA bloc against the Election Commission. Prominent opposition leaders had recently gathered at Rajघाट for a major demonstration, intensifying political tensions in the national capital as various leaders continue mobilization efforts.
