RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Emphasizes Inseparability of Dharma and Nation in Mumbai
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat delivered a significant address in Mumbai, highlighting the core philosophical connection between culture, religion, and nationhood in India. He asserted that in the Indian context, dharma and the nation cannot be viewed as two separate entities. According to him, they are deeply interdependent, where one sustains the other.
Addressing a large gathering at the 14th convention of the All India Vihar Seva Group, Bhagwat underscored that the ultimate objective of a nation is rooted in its dharma. He cautioned that if dharma falls into a state of crisis, the entire country will inevitably face severe consequences. The event witnessed the presence of notable spiritual figures and leaders, underlining the cultural significance of the discussion.
India's Ancient Wisdom Tradition Holds Solutions for Global Challenges
Expanding on global issues, the RSS chief noted that the world is currently searching for a delicate balance between rapid material development, environmental protection, individual liberty, and family values. Amidst widespread global unrest and conflicting ideologies, the international community is increasingly looking toward India for guidance and stability.
He proudly stated that India has historically shared its profound knowledge with the world without resorting to territorial conquest or forced conversions. The vast intellectual heritage of the country—encompassing the Vedas, Upanishads, Epics, Buddhist and Jain scriptures, and the teachings of saints—contains the answers to contemporary human problems.
Preserving Cultural Heritage is Safeguarding Humanity's Future
Emphasizing the spiritual dimension, Bhagwat spoke about the power of devotion and inner awakening. He urged society to recognize that protecting the individuals and traditions that carry forward this ancient wisdom is not merely a religious obligation, but a fundamental service to humanity.
"Our nation and dharma are not separate. The purpose of the nation is dharma, and dharma sustains the nation. Both are dependent on each other." — Mohan Bhagwat, RSS Chief
