Oben Electric Dominates Indian Two-Wheeler Market

The landscape of the Indian automobile sector is undergoing a massive transformation, with electric vehicles gradually capturing the spotlight. While electric scooters have traditionally dominated the two-wheeler EV market, a new wave of electric motorcycles is capturing the imagination of modern riders. Among the frontrunners, Bengaluru-based startup Oben Electric has achieved a monumental milestone by clinching the top spot in the electric motorcycle segment.

According to recent industry registration data, Oben Electric successfully registered 1,417 units in September, marking its highest-ever monthly sales figure to date. This stellar performance highlights a growing consumer preference for high-performance, long-range electric motorcycles that seamlessly blend traditional styling with cutting-edge green technology.

The Success Behind Oben Rorr Evo

The driving force behind Oben Electric's remarkable market dominance is its flagship motorcycle, the Oben Rorr Evo. Designed with a 'motorcycle-first' philosophy, this EV offers a certified range of 180 kilometers on a single charge, addressing the major range anxiety historically associated with electric vehicles. Its impressive powertrain allows the bike to accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3 seconds, boasting a top speed of 110 km/h.

Furthermore, the motorcycle features rapid charging capabilities, taking approximately 90 minutes to juice up its 3.4kWh battery pack from 0 to 80 percent. With exceptionally low running costs—costing roughly 35 rupees for a full charge—riders can travel extensive distances at a fraction of the cost incurred by traditional petrol-powered bikes.

Expanding Manufacturing and Retail Infrastructure

To keep pace with surging demand, Oben Electric recently crossed the 10,000th production milestone from its advanced manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. Spread across 3.5 acres, the plant boasts an annual production capacity of 100,000 units. The company focuses heavily on the 'Make In India' initiative, developing critical components like LFP batteries, motors, and software completely in-house.

Additionally, Oben has expanded its retail and service footprint across 18 states, establishing over 150 showrooms and dedicated service centers in more than 90 cities to ensure robust customer support nationwide.
