HDFC Bank Reports Standalone Net Profit of Rs 19,510 Crore

HDFC Bank, the largest private sector lender in the country, announced its financial results for the quarter ending September 30, 2026. The bank's standalone net profit registered a year-on-year growth of 4.7 percent, reaching Rs 19,510 crore compared to Rs 18,641 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Furthermore, the bank's net interest income (NII) saw a growth of 9.7 percent, touching Rs 34,620 crore. This steady rise in core income highlights the bank's ability to maintain healthy margins despite prevailing market dynamics.

Strong Credit Growth and Deposit Mobilization

Credit expansion remained a key highlight for HDFC Bank during the quarter. Gross advances grew by 16.3 percent year-on-year, driven significantly by a 23.5 percent surge in the small and medium enterprise (SME) loan segment. Retail loans also witnessed a healthy uptick.

On the liability side, total deposits grew by 18.8 percent to reach Rs 33,27,400 crore, reflecting continued customer trust and a strong deposit mobilization strategy. CASA deposits formed a substantial portion of the overall deposit mix.

Improvement in Asset Quality and Lower NPAs

Asset quality showed marked improvement during the quarter. HDFC Bank's gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio improved to 1.11 percent, down from 1.17 percent in the previous quarter. Net NPAs also saw a decline, underscoring prudent risk management practices.

Other major lenders like Axis Bank also reported substantial growth, with consolidated net profit jumping by nearly 39 percent, reinforcing the overall strength of India's private banking ecosystem.
