Abhijeet Dipke Granted Conditional Bail
A Delhi magistrate court has provided significant relief to Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) chief Abhijeet Dipke by granting him conditional bail. The judicial decision comes after his recent detention by Delhi police prior to a scheduled protest march in the national capital. The court has directed him to furnish a surety bond of 50,000 rupees to ensure peace and maintain law and order.
According to the legal directives, the release process requires Dipke to sign the peace bond and abide by the specified conditions. This judicial order averts further judicial custody, provided the administrative formalities are successfully completed. Defense counsels presented arguments regarding the preventive nature of the police actions, leading to the conditional relief.
Background of the Detention
The arrest took place ahead of the proposed 'Lahara Do Tiranga' march in New Delhi. Police invoked prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) around central Delhi locations to restrict unauthorized gatherings. Several political and student activists, including AISA national president Neha Bora, were also briefly detained under preventive provisions before being released subsequently.
CJP representatives strongly criticized the police action, alleging procedural lapses during the initial hours of detention. Despite restrictions and high security deployment around Connaught Place and Jantar Mantar, political tensions remained palpable as various factions expressed solidarity with the detained leaders.
