Details of the Late Night Incident Near the Temple

The accident occurred late Saturday night near the Charan-Gahiya Belha village under the rural police station jurisdiction. Following the conclusion of evening prayers and rituals at the local Durga temple, several villagers and devotees had gathered outside. To spend some time together, they had set up a makeshift screen by the roadside to watch a video.

Amidst the peaceful gathering, a speeding car approaching from the Gaura crossing lost control and barreled straight through the tent arrangement, running over the unsuspecting people. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was travelling at such a high speed that nobody had any time to react or escape. While the driver initially attempted to flee the scene, prompt alertness by locals and police intervention thwarted the escape attempt.

Identities of the Deceased and Extent of Injuries

District administration officials confirmed the identities of the three individuals who lost their lives in the tragic mishap as Patheshwari Prasad alias Mahta Prasad (42), Manoj Singh (51), and Ganesh Pandey (45). All three victims hailed from the same locality, leaving their respective families shattered by the sudden loss.

In addition to the fatalities, four other villagers—identified as Chediram (50), Ghopram (31), Waktu (37), and Mukesh Tiwari (30)—suffered severe injuries. Medical professionals at the district hospital administered primary treatment before transferring the most critically injured patients to a specialized medical facility in Bahraich.

Swift Police Action and Chief Minister's Compensation Announcement

Circle Officer Abhishek Singh stated that police teams acted swiftly to seal the surrounding area and successfully intercept the vehicle involved in the crash. The driver has been taken into custody, and authorities are investigating initial suspicions regarding driving under the influence of alcohol.

"The vehicle has been seized, and the driver is currently in police custody facing interrogation. Preliminary findings suggest the driver might have been intoxicated, though this will be officially verified through medical examination reports. Strict legal action will follow." — Abhishek Singh, Circle Officer

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound grief over the accident. The state government announced an ex-gratia financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured, directing local administration to ensure optimal medical treatment for all victims.
