New Rules for Religious Events in Delhi Municipal Parks
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has introduced revised guidelines for booking municipal parks for religious and community events. Under the updated regulations, permission for such gatherings will only be granted in parks where similar events have been traditionally held for at least the past five consecutive years. This measure aims to protect green spaces and prevent disruption to local residents.
Administrative officials noted that frequent bookings often led to disputes and inconvenience for morning walkers and children. By enforcing the five-year rule, the administration seeks to streamline the permission process and preserve the primary purpose of public parks.
DDA Completes Security Audit of 300 Parks
In parallel, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), acting on directives from the Lieutenant Governor, has ramped up security measures across public parks in the national capital. A comprehensive security audit covering approximately 300 parks has been successfully completed, addressing concerns related to evening safety.
The audit focuses on enhancing lighting, increasing security patrols, and repairing boundary walls to deter anti-social elements. Women, children, and senior citizens remain the primary focus of these intensified safety protocols.
