Allegations of Abuse and Physical Assault
Executive Engineer Shivram Gagrai and SDO Vijay Tigga claimed they were summoned to the MLA's residence regarding details of a past project inauguration. According to the engineers, when they failed to provide the exact proof demanded by the legislator, tensions flared, leading to verbal abuse and physical manhandling. The incident has triggered widespread outrage among engineering associations across the state.
Discussion surrounding the controversy on social media
The incident has sparked heated debates across political and administrative circles.
Ultimatum Given for an Indefinite Strike
Following an emergency meeting of the Jharkhand Engineers Association and Diploma Association, members warned that if the MLA does not issue a public apology within 48 hours, they will launch an indefinite strike. As an immediate form of protest, engineers started wearing black armbands while working. The associations emphasized that elected representatives must maintain basic decorum while interacting with government officials.
The MLA and Locals Deny Allegations
Meanwhile, the legislator has strongly refuted the allegations of assault, clarifying that he only reprimanded the officials to ensure they addressed public grievances properly and did not misbehave with citizens.
