Amid rising political tensions ahead of upcoming political milestones in Punjab, Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Speaking at a public conclave, Bajwa remarked that unless the Chief Minister himself overcomes substance abuse issues, making Punjab drug-free remains an impossible dream.
'We Asked for a CM, We Got a Chief Entertainer'
Questioning the current political leadership, Bajwa stated that the robust character and vibrancy once defining Punjab's youth are now missing. The public voted for a visionary and capable administrator, but unfortunately, "we asked for a chief minister and got a chief entertainer instead." Citing a famous Turkish proverb, he added that when a jester enters a palace, he doesn't become a king; the entire palace turns into a circus, which is currently happening in Punjab.
CBI Raids and Administrative Concerns
Addressing the central agency raids on the Chief Minister's camp office and close associates, Bajwa noted that while the Congress does not blindly endorse central agencies, the situation could have been avoided had the government acted promptly on corruption and transfer-posting allegations flagged by the Enforcement Directorate.
