Punjab Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) State President Aman Arora made strong statements during the 'Aaj Tak Panchayat Punjab' event, claiming that the AAP government will retain power in the state based on its performance over the past four and a half years.
Defending State Debt and Development
Addressing questions regarding the rising debt on Punjab, Arora termed it 'productive debt'. He explained that borrowed funds are being utilized to build roads, schools, hospitals, and provide government jobs to over 17,000 youths. He highlighted that the excise revenue has been significantly boosted from Rs 6,000 crore to Rs 13,000 crore, ensuring sound economic management despite the withdrawal of GST compensation.
Gangsters Operating From Sabarmati Jail
On the rising crime and extortion issues, Arora targeted the central government and the BJP. Citing NCRB data, he claimed neighboring states face much higher crime rates. In a major revelation, he stated that 70 to 80 percent of criminals operate from foreign shores or other states, with key masterminds sitting inside Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail. He accused the Centre of failing to secure the international border effectively and trying to defame Punjab for political gains.
