A chilling case has come to light from Uttar Pradesh, where the body of 26-year-old Vishakha, a BTC student who had been missing for eight days, was recovered from a sack near the Yamuna River in Etawah. Police have arrested the accused government official, though conflicting claims regarding suicide and murder have intensified the investigation.
The Timeline of a Tragic Disappearance
Vishakha, a resident of Noor Darwaza in Agra, left her home on September 29 and never returned. Preparing for competitive teaching exams, her sudden disappearance panicked her family, who eventually filed a missing person report when all attempts to contact her failed. Call detail records (CDRs) led investigators straight to Shivjeet Bhadoria, a local revenue official (lekhpal) posted in Fatehabad.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to having a long-standing romantic relationship with Vishakha and alleged that he had promised to marry her. However, he had married another woman earlier in May, which triggered continuous friction and disputes between them.
Suicide Claim Versus Murder Allegations
According to the police, the accused claimed that Vishakha visited his room on September 30, where a heated argument broke out over his marriage. The accused alleged that Vishakha died by suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. However, police and the victim's family are questioning how her body ended up wrapped in a sack in a different district if it was a suicide.
The accused stated that he panicked, placed the body in his car, drove towards Bah and Etawah, and dumped it into the Yamuna River. On Tuesday evening, villagers near the Mihौली village in Etawah spotted the sack and alerted authorities, confirming the identity of the deceased.
The victim's father has vehemently refuted the accused's claims, accusing him of cold-blooded murder stemming from a family feud dating back to 2017. Police officials stated that further legal action will proceed once the post-mortem report determines the exact cause of death.
