A shocking tale of love, sacrifice, and alleged betrayal has captured public attention, highlighting the complexities of modern relationship disputes. While a family went to great lengths—even pulling resources from an autorickshaw livelihood—to educate and empower their daughter-in-law, securing a government job allegedly changed everything as the wife distanced herself from her husband.
From Romance to Court Marriage
Hanslal Gupta, a native of Kaimur, was working at a petrol pump in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, when he met Pratibha Vishwakarma. The two fell in love and entered into a wedlock in 2021, which was later legally formalized through a court marriage in April 2024. The family happily welcomed Pratibha and supported her aspirations to study further.
Rickshaw Puller Father Spent Savings on Her Education
Realizing her ambition to crack competitive exams, Hanslal's father, Paramhans Gupta, who earns a living by driving an e-rickshaw, invested heavily in her studies. The family claims they spent around 8 to 9 lakh rupees on her coaching and preparations. Their hard work paid off when Pratibha successfully cleared the Bihar Police constable examination and was posted in Katihar.
The Fallout After Getting the Job
According to the distraught husband, things drastically changed after Pratibha joined the police force. She allegedly cut off communication, avoided visits, and refused to acknowledge their relationship. Desperate to save his marriage, Hanslal and his father travelled to Katihar and approached the Superintendent of Police (SP) for help after the constable refused to recognize them. Authorities have suggested counselling as a path to resolve the intense domestic dispute.
