The proposed 'Laharao Tiranga' protest at Central Park in Connaught Place, New Delhi, has intensified as Delhi Police adopted a firm stand before the Delhi High Court. The police assured the court that strict actions will be taken against CJP leader Abhijit Dipke and anyone attempting to disrupt public order.
High Court Hearing and Arguments
The matter came up before a bench led by ACJ Nitin Sambre. Street vendors of Palika Bazaar had filed a petition seeking a ban on the protest, arguing that Central Park is not a designated protest site. They contended that barricades and restrictions during the festive weekend would severely disrupt traffic, pedestrian movement, and commercial activities.
While declining to issue an immediate stay order, the High Court recorded the assurance given by ASG Chetan Sharma, representing the Centre, that police would take all necessary and stringent steps under the law. The matter has been posted for further hearing on November 3, 2026.
Dipke's Appeal and Enhanced Security
Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke has urged citizens and youths to participate in the 'Tiranga March'. Asserting that hoisting the national flag is not a crime, he called upon people across the country to demonstrate pride in the Tricolour. In light of the ongoing tensions, security has been heavily beefed up across the Connaught Place area to monitor the situation closely.
